Counselling asks a great deal of your privacy. This page sets out what Cultivation Counselling collects when you use this website, why, and what you can ask us to do about it.
Cultivation Counselling is a counselling practice based at 1/978 Main Road, Eltham, Victoria. We are bound by the Australian Privacy Principles in the Privacy Act 1988 (Cth) and by the professional and ethical obligations of the Australian Counselling Association.
This policy explains how we handle personal information collected through cultivationcounselling.com. By using this website you consent to the handling of your information as described here. If you do not agree with this policy, please do not use the site, and contact Bree directly instead.
This policy covers your use of the website: enquiries, bookings, cookies and analytics. It does not describe how your counselling records are handled once you become a client.
Session notes, assessments and anything you say in the room are held under separate confidentiality arrangements. Those are explained in writing, discussed with you and signed in your first session, and they carry stronger protections than anything on this page.
Please do not put clinical detail, health history or anything sensitive into a website form or an email. A short note asking for an appointment is enough. The rest belongs in the session.
We only collect what we need in order to reply to you, arrange an appointment and run the practice.
To respond to your enquiry, to arrange, confirm, reschedule or cancel appointments, to issue invoices and receipts and process fees, to provide the invoice details you need for a private health insurance rebate, to send you a resource or newsletter you have asked for, and to keep the website working properly and securely.
We do not sell your personal information. We do not disclose it for someone else’s marketing. If we ever wanted to use your information for a purpose you would not reasonably expect, we would ask you first.
This website uses cookies to analyse traffic and improve your experience of the site. If you accept our use of cookies, your data is aggregated with all other user data. Some cookies are necessary for the site to function, and others help us understand which pages people find useful.
You can refuse or delete cookies through your browser settings at any time. Some parts of the site, including booking, may not work as well if you do.
We use a small number of established providers to run the website and the practice: a website platform and host, an online booking system, a payment processor, an email and mailing list provider, website analytics, and a video platform for telehealth sessions. This site is also protected by reCAPTCHA, and the Google Privacy Policy and Terms of Service apply.
Each of these providers handles information under its own privacy policy. We share only what the service needs in order to do its job, and we do not authorise any of them to use your information for their own marketing. Links to other websites are provided for convenience, and we are not responsible for their privacy practices.
Email and website forms are offered for convenience. No method of transmission over the internet is completely secure, so please keep what you send us brief and practical.
Telehealth sessions are held on Zoom, which offers end-to-end encryption. Sessions are not recorded. We ask you to join from a private space where you will not be overheard, as your privacy during a session depends partly on where you take it.
Personal information is held in password-protected systems, accessible only to Bree. Paper records, where they exist, are kept in locked storage at the clinic.
We take reasonable steps to protect information from misuse, loss, unauthorised access and disclosure. We keep records for as long as professional and legal obligations require, and destroy or de-identify them securely once they are no longer needed.
Some of the providers described above store data on servers outside Australia, including in the United States. Where that happens, we take reasonable steps to use providers with appropriate privacy protections in place.
You can ask what personal information we hold about you, ask us to correct it if it is wrong or out of date, ask us to delete information we no longer need, and unsubscribe from any mailing list at any time using the link in the email.
Write to [email protected] and we will respond within a reasonable time. We may need to verify your identity first. In limited circumstances we may not be able to give full access, for example where doing so would affect another person’s privacy, and if so we will explain why.
This website is intended for adults. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children through the site. If you believe a child has provided information here, please contact us and we will delete it.
If you think your privacy has been mishandled, please raise it with Bree first. Most concerns are resolved quickly once they are spoken about, and feedback is genuinely welcome.
If you are not satisfied with our response, you can make a complaint to the Australian Counselling Association, or to the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner at oaic.gov.au.
We may update this policy from time to time. The current version is always the one published on this page, and the date below tells you when it last changed. Continuing to use the site after a change means you accept the updated policy.
